Why Metrics Damage Human Creativity

Preview

What if the internet broke creativity not by censoring it, but by teaching us to perform before we could even hear ourselves think?

I didn’t realize how deeply metrics had entered my nervous system until I stepped away from them.

The constant invisible negotiation: Will this do well? Will people care? Is this worth posting? Numbers began shaping perception before perception had time to become language. Even silence became measurable. Especially silence.

And something strange happens when creation becomes tracked in real time: the body stops trusting emergence. Ideas no longer arrive as living things. They arrive already interrupted by anticipation. Before the sentence finishes forming, part of the mind is already calculating reaction, visibility, consequence. You stop listening inwardly because the system trains you to listen outwardly first.

I think this is why so many people feel exhausted despite “expressing themselves” all day online. Expression without sovereignty drains life force. Especially when every act of creation is immediately fed into systems designed to rank, compare, accelerate, flatten, optimize.

The nervous system was never built to metabolize permanent audience-awareness.

And maybe that’s why so much of the internet feels thin now. People are creating while being watched, quantified, evaluated, predicted. Very little gets the chance to ripen in private. Very little gets protected long enough to become true.

Lately I’ve been thinking about ancient forests. How some seeds only germinate after fire. Others after years underground in darkness. Creativity feels closer to that. Some ideas require obscurity before emergence. They need protection from premature visibility. They need silence, incubation, intervals where no one is looking.

Metrics collapse those intervals.

What I’m recovering now is not productivity. It’s trust in perception before performance. The ability to let something exist before deciding whether it is useful, marketable, impressive, or legible to others. A different rhythm entirely. Slower. More biological. More human.

Creativity was never meant to be extracted from us daily like oil. It behaves more like water. It returns when the environment can hold it safely again.

This is not a product page.
It is a point of entry into a living system.

What you are supporting here is not content, but conditions
the conditions required for a body of work to emerge, refine, and circulate without distortion.

Living Systems — A Field Manual for Coherence and Agency and Relational Systems — The Mechanics of Coherence in Human Connection
are an evolving body of work exploring:

  • How systems shape perception

  • How feedback loops sustain or suppress agency

  • Why coherence cannot be imposed

  • How perception can be restored through lived signal

The video transmissions and the daily written research are the visible layer.
The deeper work is ongoing, structural, and long-term.

At this stage, the work generates value faster than it generates income.
So this page exists as a
direct correction of that imbalance.

Structure of Support

This is a voluntary, transparent exchange:

  • €140 → supports approximately one week of stability

  • €280 → supports approximately two weeks of stability

  • €480 → supports one full month

There are no tiers.
No psychological pressure.
No hidden mechanisms.

Only clarity.

What You Receive

What This Is Not

  • This is not a purchase of influence

  • It does not grant control over the direction of the work

  • It does not create artificial obligation

The work remains sovereign.
Your support stabilizes the ground it stands on.

Why This Matters

Systems collapse when circulation stops.
Not only of money — but of attention, trust, and support.

This page is an experiment in conscious circulation:
where support is given without distortion,
and received without performance.

If this work has value to you —
not just as information, but as a shift in how reality is understood —
you are welcome to support it.

If not, nothing is lost.

The work continues.
